the new mayor's first jobs: my letter

I have just emailed our new mayor:

Dear Mr Mayor

When can we expect the referendum on the elected mayor system to be held?

More than 11,000 residents petitioned for this referendum (in accordance with the constitution) and you made an election pledge to carry out such a referendum.

After you have carried out your first task of the day, i.e. reducing your salary to £30,000, I would appreciate it if you could make the arrangements for the referendum your second priority task.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards

I wonder what reply I'll get, if any.

Probably a load of bluster, if you get any response at all, considering his scintillating performance on Radio Sheffield this morning.

I always got a response from Winter, I expect no less from this wanker.

I do not remember any request for a referendum at any time during MAYOR WINTERS terms.Just look and listen to the squeals comming from the left.

You must have a short or selective memory BRIT.

There was a big campaign, about two years ago where more than 11000 signatures were collected to petition for a referendum. Even councillors supported supported it.

The request for a referendum then as now is to remove the undemocratic mayoral system of governance.
